Imagine you’re watching the Superbowl, with Justin Timberlake has the headliner and then BOOM, he finds a way to piss off black twitter once again.
The entertainer performed for last nights Half-time show during the Superbowl. While a decent performance at most, where he played a few oldies (Rock Your Body, Cry Me A River, and SexyBack) and a few newbies (Mirrors, Suit & Tie, and Can’t Stop The Feeling), mid-way through his song “End Of Time”, he paid tribute to Prince, by singing “I Would Die 4 U”, with the camera panning out to display the city light up in purple in the form of the well-known KAPTAF symbol in the immediate area.
However, social media was set ablaze as many felt Timberlake disregarded Prince’s wishes by using his image during his performance, where a backdrop appeared behind Timberlake while singing “I Would Die 4 U” especially when, according to tweets on social media, the Purple One wasn’t too fond of Timberlake, going as far back as a comment Prince made regarding the song “SexyBack”

PRINCE DID NOT WANT TO EVER BE USED IN A HOLOGRAM DUET! Those were his wishes! No no no #JustinTimberlake damn it!
That was WRONG. I don’t care how great the rest of your performance was. You can’t ignore someone’s wishes like that. #HalfTimeShow— Diamond (@diamondovelove1) February 5, 2018
Well, this does make you wonder what Prince would’ve said about that performance…
